WordsForNumbers.com is a free online tool that converts numbers and currency amounts into words — in English (International and Indian systems), Urdu and Hindi.

Why we built it

Writing amounts in words sounds simple until money is involved. A misplaced decimal, a "lakh" written as "lac", or a converter that silently drops paise can bounce a cheque or void a contract clause. Existing converters we tested mishandled decimals (125000.50 became 12,500,050), lacked the Indian lakh/crore system entirely, and offered no Urdu or Hindi output. We built the converter we wished existed.

How the converter works

Everything runs in your browser — your numbers never leave your device.
Decimals are parsed explicitly, so paise, cents and fils are never dropped.
English output supports both the International (million/billion) and Indian (lakh/crore/arab) systems.
Urdu and Hindi use native-script word tables, not transliteration.
A regression test suite checks conversions like 125000.50 on every build.
