How the converter works
Enter any whole number — from 0 up to trillions — and choose your numbering system. International groups digits in threes (thousand, million, billion). Indian groups the first three digits, then pairs (thousand, lakh, crore, arab). Both are used across Pakistan and India: everyday speech and cheques use lakh/crore, while international business documents use million/billion.

Rules for writing numbers in words
- Hyphenate compound tens: twenty-one, forty-two, ninety-nine.
- No "and" is required in most modern style guides ("one hundred twenty-five"), though British cheques traditionally include it.
- Capitalize the first word on cheques and legal documents.
- Never mix systems in one document — pick lakh/crore or million/billion and stay consistent.
- Write decimals as fractions of the unit on money: 250.75 = "two hundred fifty rupees and seventy-five paise".
