- Date — write the current date; post-dated cheques are common for future payments.
- Payee — write the recipient name after "Pay". For cash withdrawal, write "Self".
- Amount in words — on the long line, e.g. "Rupees one lakh twenty-five thousand only". Start at the far left; draw a line through leftover space.
- Amount in figures — in the small box: 125000 or 125,000. It must match the words exactly.
